The art of sewing is most delightful when it is carried out with a sense of purpose. It is a joy for young ladies to make useful and special items for family and friends. These practical and attractive potholders would be excellent for daily use, practicing hospitality, gifts, or placing in your hopechest for your future home.
The Ohio Star is a simple design that has been a favorite among quilters since the early 1800ís, and it remains a classic today. This project incorporates handstitching as well as machine sewing, and enough materials are included to make two potholders. The original fabric (as pictured) has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Kit contains fabrics, batting, sewing needle and step-by-step instructions. Finished size is 10 inches square.
If you have already ordered the potholder kit and would like fabric/filling (the discontinued fabric would be substituted with a comparable fabric) for more potholders, please indicate how many sets you would like (by sets of two). The cost would be approximately $8 for all of the materials to make two potholders (fabric print for front, white fabric, fabric for backing, and batting) plus shipping. Please carefully specify what you would like and contact us to check for exact costs and availability. If you would like to choose and purchase your own fabrics, we would be glad to send the instructions alone for a total of $2. Additional batting is $3 per set (enough for two potholders). A white on white fabric (a small floral design) is available at $1 per set (enough for two potholders). Please e-mail us for shipping quotes. Thank you!
